Precinct 3 encompasses Lafayette City-Parish Council District's 7, 8, and 9.  Geographically, it is roughly bordered on the north by Johnston Street extending down South College Road to Girard Park Drive. It continues to the Vermilion River nearing the Lafayette Regional Airport.  The east boundary is located south of the airport traversing the Evangeline Thruway (Highway 90).  It is bordered to the south and west by the City limits of Lafayette. 

Precinct 3 is primarily residential with several corridors of extended retail shopping.  Industrial businesses are primarily found in the southern most areas of the Precinct.  This area of the City enjoys the fastest growth of new residential, retail, as well as restaurants.  Precinct 3 continues to retain the highest property values located within the City of Lafayette.  There are three major hospitals contained within Precinct 3: Lafayette General Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, as well as Women's and Children's Hospital.  Precinct 3 contains three vital bridges which cross the Vermilion River.  By volume, the busiest intersections contained within the City of Lafayette are contained within Precinct 3 and are located at the intersections of Ambassador Caffery Parkway @ Kaliste Saloom Road and Johnston Street @ Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
