Precinct Commander: Captain Thaddeus Sices

Geographically, Precinct 4 encompasses approximately 25​% of the city limits of Lafayette. To the north and east, the borders are the city limit lines. The southern border follows along all property that is north of the Vermilion River. The west border is the BNSF railroad from the East University underpass to West Simcoe Street, and the North East Evangeline Thruway north of railroad crossing.

Precinct 4 is primarily residential and commercial. The Northgate Mall is also located at the northern gateway of Lafayette just south of I-10 and Highway 167. A newly developed shopping center is located at I-10 and Louisiana Avenue. This precinct also has two major home improvement stores located right off of the I-49 corridor.

There are several school districts in Precinct 4; Acadian Middle, Career Center, Evangeline Elementary, J. W. Faulk Elementary, Lafayette Charter, Moss Annex, Moss Middle, Northside High & Paul Breaux Elementary.

Precinct 4 is divided into 4 zones. There are 4 patrol shifts alternating with an average of 6 officers per shift.

The Lafayette Police Department has adopted the Com-Stat process. This enables the Precinct Commander to have more flexibility in asserting manpower where needed. Through Com-Stat, better communication has been developed between the various departments within Lafayette Parish. This has proven to be a viable tool in solving crime in all the Precincts. Officers are gathering more information, sharing this information through Com-Stat and are closing more cases because of this process. Com-Stat is working very well. There is only room for improvement.

Lafayette is rapidly growing. Having the Com-Stat process in place will allow or assist the Lafayette Police Department to grow with the city.
