Fee-Waived Pet Adoptions at LASCC Sept. 18–30

LASCC TO PARTICIPATE IN BISSELL PET FOUNDATION’S EMPTY THE SHELTERS EVENT SEPTEMBER 18–30
Fee-waived adoptions offer local residents an opportunity to welcome a new companion while helping pets find loving homes.

Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center (LASCC) is inviting residents to find their next companion during the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters adoption event, taking place September 18–30, 2026. During the nationwide event, eligible pets at LASCC will be available for adoption with fees waived, giving local families an opportunity to welcome a new pet into their homes while helping more animals find loving families.

Empty the Shelters provides an opportunity for LASCC to connect more pets with families while helping create space for animals who need shelter and care. Through fee-waived adoptions, the event encourages residents who have been considering adoption to visit the shelter, meet available pets, and find the right fit for their family.

“If you’ve been thinking about adding a pet to your family, this is a great opportunity to visit LASCC and meet some of the animals who are looking for homes,” said Lafayette Animal Shelter Manager Shelley Delahoussaye. “Every adoption makes a difference, and we’re grateful to BISSELL Pet Foundation for helping us connect more pets with loving families.”

LASCC will be open for the free adoption event from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters is a nationwide adoption event that helps participating animal shelters like LASCC reduce adoption fees and help free up space in overcrowded shelters. Since its inception in 2016, the program has helped more than 431,000 pets find homes across the U.S. and Canada.

Residents interested in adopting are encouraged to visit LASCC during the event to meet available pets and learn more about the adoption process. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home.
