Juvenile Detention Home (JDH)
Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Home (JDH) is a part of the criminal justice system and is operated by the Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG). It is a state-licensed holding facility specifically for detaining juveniles who have broken juvenile laws and are awaiting further adjudication. It is funded by LCG and operates under the Chief Administrative Officer.
Reformative Instruction and Skills Enhancement (R.I.S.E.) Program
Launched: July 2024
The R.I.S.E. Program is an academic, emotional fluency, and mindfulness initiative designed to enhance the skills of the LJDH Youth and equip them for success in all aspects of their lives. Through this merit-based program, students can prepare for the HiSET test, which focuses on basic curriculum including mathematics, science, reading, English and social studies, and earn a high school equivalency credential upon completion.
