LAFAYETTE TO WELCOME ONE OF SIX FREEDOM 250 MOBILE MUSEUMS TRAVELING NATIONWIDE OCTOBER 28 – NOVEMBER 3

Lafayette, LA – As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, Lafayette Consolidated Government the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission (LCVC) are proud to welcome Freedom 250’s “Freedom Truck” to Cajun Field (2351 W Congress St.) from October 28 through November 3, 2026. This mobile museum will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore the nation’s history through an interactive exhibit designed for all ages. Admission is free to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Freedom Truck is part of a nationwide effort to bring the story of America’s 250th anniversary directly to communities across the country. The traveling museum transforms public spaces into interactive educational environments, giving visitors an opportunity to explore American history without traveling to Washington, D.C.

Each custom-built mobile exhibit features museum quality interactive technology, multimedia storytelling and hands-on experiences highlighting America’s founding, defining chapters and the innovation shaping the nation’s future.

"America's 250th anniversary gives us an opportunity to honor the generations who built our great nation while looking with confidence toward what comes next,” says Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “Our country’s story is still being written, and here in Lafayette, we have a role in shaping its future. I hope this milestone inspires our young people especially to understand the freedoms and opportunities they inherit, to take pride in our shared history, and to recognize the responsibility we all have to leave our communities and our country stronger for the generations that follow.”

“Having the America 250 Mobile Museum in the area will be a great way to wind down an exciting year of events celebrating our country, and an opportunity to reflect on the people, places and stories that have shaped our nation,” says Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission President and CEO, Ben Berthelot. “We encourage everyone from the region to take advantage of this special opportunity to celebrate our shared history and the 250th anniversary of our nation, right here at Cajun Field.”

Hours of operation for the Freedom Truck will be 10:00am – 5:00pm daily. For additional information about the Mobile Museum Tour and future stops, visit Freedom250.org/freedom-truck. For more information,  visit Freedom250.org.
