Lafayette Juvenile Detention Home Earns National FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award
LAFAYETTE JUVENILE DETENTION HOME EARNS NATIONAL FBI-LEEDA AGENCY TRILOGY AWARD
First juvenile detention facility in the nation to receive prestigious leadership recognition
Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) announced today that the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Home (LJDH) has received the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) Trilogy Award, a prestigious national recognition awarded to agencies whose entire command staff completes three comprehensive leadership development programs.
LJDH is the first juvenile detention facility in the nation to earn the distinction, recognizing its commitment to strong leadership, professional development, accountability and maintaining a safe and effective environment for the youth in its care.
“Alonzo and his team have worked hard to bring stability, accountability and a high level of professionalism to our Juvenile Detention Home,” said Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “I’m grateful for the leadership they bring to this facility every day and their commitment to maintaining high standards for both the staff and the youth in their care.”
The recognition follows the completion of three FBI-LEEDA leadership programs by LJDH Administrator Alonzo Thomas and Operations Managers Ronald Irvin and Michael Rush. The leadership team completed all three programs within an 18-month period, meeting the requirements for the Agency Trilogy Award.
The Trilogy includes the Supervisor Leadership Institute (SLI), the Command Leadership Institute (CLI), and the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI). Together, the programs strengthen supervisory skills, decision-making, organizational leadership and management practices within public safety and law enforcement organizations.
“Strong leadership directly impacts the safety, professionalism and accountability of our facility,” said LJDH Administrator Alonzo Thomas. “Investing in our command staff gives us better tools to support our employees, resolve challenges, strengthen teamwork and maintain the high standards expected of those entrusted with the care of young people.”
The training is designed to translate directly into daily operations, strengthening communication and decision-making while establishing clear expectations and accountability throughout the facility. FBI-LEEDA works to advance law enforcement leadership through training, education, networking and the exchange of best practices among public safety professionals across the United States and internationally.
As the first juvenile detention facility to receive the Agency Trilogy Award, LJDH’s achievement reinforces its commitment to continuous improvement, professional leadership and a strong, well-supported workforce dedicated to public safety and the responsible care of Lafayette’s youth.
