Lafayette Launches Nationwide Search for Next Director of Traffic, Roads, and Bridges

LAFAYETTE LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE SEARCH FOR NEXT DIRECTOR OF TRAFFIC, ROADS, AND BRIDGES

Applications now being accepted through national executive search firm Affion Public.

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government is now accepting applications for its next Director of Traffic, Roads, and Bridges, launching a nationwide recruitment effort in partnership with executive search firm Affion Public to identify an experienced transportation leader who will help guide Lafayette’s continued growth and infrastructure investment.

LCG selected Affion Public, a nationally recognized executive search firm specializing in local government leadership recruitment, to conduct the nationwide search and attract top transportation professionals from across the country. The position is now posted, and applications are being accepted.

The search follows the departure of former Director Warren Abadie, who recently accepted an opportunity in the private sector. To ensure continuity throughout the recruitment process, Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet has appointed Martin Poirrier to serve as Interim Director of Traffic, Roads, and Bridges. Poirrier will continue serving as Director of Capital Improvements while providing interim leadership for the department.

The Director of Traffic, Roads, and Bridges leads a department responsible for maintaining an extensive network of roadways, bridges, traffic control devices, and transportation infrastructure throughout Lafayette Parish. The position oversees engineering, streets and bridges, vehicle maintenance, and traffic operations while helping shape the transportation network that serves more than 250,000 residents across Lafayette Parish.

This position comes at a pivotal time as Lafayette advances an infrastructure agenda supported by the proposed FY 2026-2027 budget, which prioritizes continued investment in transportation, roadway improvements, drainage, public safety, and long-term economic growth. LCG is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer with extensive experience in traffic operations, transportation engineering, roadway planning, and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with strategic leadership, innovation, operational excellence, and a commitment to public service.

The position offers a salary range of $140,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
