LAFAYETTE ORGANIZATIONS UNITE TO COLLECT FLOOD RELIEF SUPPLIES FOR AVOYELLES PARISH

Lafayette, LAIn response to the devastating flooding impacting residents of Avoyelles Parish, the Lafayette Firefighters Association Local 619, the Police Association of Lafayette, the Lafayette Fire Department, the Lafayette Police Department, and Lafayette Consolidated Government have joined forces to collect much-needed relief supplies to assist affected families and communities during the recovery process.

Beginning immediately and continuing through Monday, June 22, 2026, community members are encouraged to donate essential cleaning and recovery supplies to support residents as floodwaters recede and cleanup efforts begin.

Requested Donations Include:
•    Bottled Water
•    Cleaning Supplies
•    Buckets
•    Towels
•    Toiletries and Personal Hygiene Items

Organizers are currently coordinating with regional emergency management officials to establish a staging area in St. Landry Parish. Once conditions allow and floodwaters have sufficiently receded, donated supplies will be transported to the staging area for distribution to residents and agencies assisting with recovery efforts in Avoyelles Parish.

"The people of Avoyelles Parish are facing significant challenges as a result of this flooding event," representatives of the participating organizations said. "As neighboring communities, we have an opportunity to come together and provide support during their time of need. Every donation will help families begin the difficult process of recovery and rebuilding."

Community members are encouraged to contribute any of the requested items and demonstrate the enduring Louisiana tradition of neighbors helping neighbors.
Additional information regarding collection locations, operating hours, and distribution logistics is provided below.
