Lafayette PARC Hosts Free Pink Picnic for Breast Cancer Awareness

LAFAYETTE PARC “PINK PICNIC” BRINGS COMMUNITY TOGETHER FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Free community event at Girard Park will honor survivors, support families and connect residents with health and wellness resources

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture (PARC) Department is inviting residents to wear pink and gather at Girard Park for the PARC Pink Picnic, a free community event recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month and those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer.

The Pink Picnic will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Girard Park Pavilion (500 Girard Park Drive, Lafayette, LA).

Designed as an opportunity for connection, support and awareness, the event will bring residents together to honor breast cancer survivors, stand alongside those currently facing the disease and connect families with local health and wellness resources.

“Breast cancer impacts hundreds of thousands of people every year,” says PARC Director Byron Starks. “As we bring the Pink Picnic back for a second year, we hope to continue building a tradition that reminds survivors, families and everyone impacted by breast cancer that they are not alone in their fight.”

Pink Picnic activities will include:

  • Free burgers on the grill – The Lafayette City Marshal’s Office will be grilling 250 burgers (first-come, first-served) for attendees.
  • Pack your picnic goodies – Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite picnic snacks, sides, or lunches to enjoy in the park.
  • Wear pink with pride – Attendees are asked to show support by wearing pink attire.
  • Community resources – Local health and wellness organizations will provide valuable information and resources for attendees.

This event is free and open to the public, and residents of all ages are welcome to attend. Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and their smiles for an afternoon of connection and celebration.
