Marie Antionette Street Closure for New Traffic Signal
LANE CLOSURE: MARIE ANTIONETTE STREET FROM PANDORA STREET TO CONGRESS STREET FOR NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL
Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) announces the temporary closure of the southeast-bound lane of Marie Antionette Street from Pandora Street to Congress Street and the southbound outside lane on Congress Street when workers are present beginning Tuesday, September 15, 2026, through Friday, September 18, 2026. The opposing travel lane on Marie Antionette Street (the northwest-bound lane) will remain open.
Construction crews will be installing and pouring concrete footings for a new, permanent traffic signal to replace the temporary signal currently in place in an effort to improve pedestrian safety with dedicated crossing signals. New sidewalks are also being constructed in an effort to improve walkability and safety near Lafayette High School.
Drivers should expect delays, exercise caution in the work zone, and allow additional travel time when navigating through the area, especially students and staff traveling to Lafayette High School.
