Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) announces the reopening of the Giselle Place bridge following completion of a full replacement project. This project was delivered on schedule and within the approved budget, restoring safe and reliable access for area residents and motorists.

GISELLE PLACE TO CLOSE FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT BEGINNING APRIL 21
Lafayette, LA – Beginning Monday, April 21, 2025, Giselle Place will be closed to all through traffic for approximately eight months to allow for a full bridge replacement project.
The project includes the removal of the existing fully timber span structure and the installation of a new concrete box culvert. Additional improvements will include associated drainage work and channel lining using flexible revetment, enhancing the overall safety and durability of the roadway infrastructure.
Detour routes will be clearly marked and local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to use the following alternate routes:
- Lepinay Road
- W. Edith Road
- Picard Road
Drivers are reminded to proceed with caution and be mindful of construction crews and signage in the area. Lafayette Consolidated Government appreciates the public’s patience as we work to improve critical transportation infrastructure.
