PARC Seeks Public Input on Parks and Recreation Facilities
PARC SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON CONDITION OF PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES
Facility-focused survey will help identify priorities for repairs, upgrades and future investment as LCG continues increased investment in parks and recreation
Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government’s (LCG) Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Culture (PARC) Department is asking residents and regular park users to help assess the condition of PARC facilities across Lafayette Parish.
The new PARC Facility Assessment Survey is part of a broader effort to evaluate existing parks and recreation facilities and identify priorities for repairs, upgrades, and future investment. Residents, sports organizations, recreational associations and other regular facility users are encouraged to share firsthand feedback about the spaces they use and areas that may need attention.
The effort comes as the Boulet Administration continues to prioritize significant investment in Lafayette Parish’s parks and recreation system, including more than $4 million in proposed investments in the FY26-27 budget. By developing a clearer picture of existing facility conditions and community needs, PARC can better prioritize available resources and help ensure future investments are directed where they can have the greatest impact.
The facility assessment is separate from, but builds on, PARC’s parish-wide strategic planning survey conducted in March. While that effort focused on what residents want and needs from Lafayette’s parks and recreation system, the new survey focuses specifically on the condition of the facilities serving those needs.
Together, these efforts will give PARC a more complete understanding of community priorities and existing facility needs to help guide future planning and investment.
A Closer Look at Facility Conditions
As part of PARC’s broader facility assessment, the survey gives those who regularly use PARC parks, playgrounds, athletic facilities and other recreational spaces an opportunity to share observations that may not always be captured through routine staff inspections. That firsthand feedback, combined with assessments from PARC staff and maintenance teams and other available information, will help identify recurring concerns, better understand facility needs and establish priorities for future repairs and improvements.
“Our parks and recreation facilities throughout Lafayette Parish are important community assets that directly impact our quality of life,” said Lafayette Parish Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “We are committed to making meaningful investments in PARC, and we want those investments to be informed by the people who use these spaces most. We’re asking Lafayette residents to help us identify what needs attention and where we can make the greatest impact.”
PARC Director Byron Starks adds, “PARC staff sees these facilities every day, but the people who use them regularly experience them in a different way. This survey gives us another set of eyes across our parks and facilities and helps us identify recurring issues, understand where needs are greatest and make more informed decisions about what we tackle first.”
PARC will review public feedback alongside staff facility assessments, findings from its earlier strategic planning survey and other available information to develop a more complete picture of needs across the parks and recreation system.

The PARC Facility Assessment Survey is open through September 30, 2026. Anyone who regularly uses PARC parks and recreation facilities is encouraged to participate, including residents, sports leagues, recreational associations, community organizations and other park users. Participants are encouraged to provide feedback based on their firsthand experience with PARC facilities and may complete a survey for each facility and its associated assets.
