As LCG advances several efforts, including a new website nearing launch, this session creates space to align around how we communicate, invest, and show up as a community. This is not about unveiling a brand or redesigning a logo, but rather about shared understanding of who we are as a community, celebration of the work being done across local organizations to move Lafayette forward, and laying the groundwork for long-term collaboration as this work evolves.

The Lafayette Garden Club and Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Tree City Committee invite the community to celebrate Louisiana Arbor Day on January 16, 2026. The celebration will include remarks from city and community leaders, a ceremonial tree planting, and recognition of Lafayette’s continued designation as a Tree City USA community.

YOU’RE INVITED: LCG invites residents, community partners, and nonprofit organizations to attend Public Hearing #2 for the Community Development & Planning Annual Action Plan.

This public hearing provides an opportunity to learn how federal housing and community development funds are used, review prior-year accomplishments, and share input on local housing and community development needs that will help shape funding priorities for the upcoming program year.

Two identical sessions will be offered to improve accessibility. Public comments may be submitted in person or in writing, and all feedback will be documented and reported to HUD.

Lafayette Consolidated Government will host an America250 Flag Raising Ceremony to mark the start of a yearlong recognition in Lafayette Parish honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout 2026, America250 invites reflection on the ideals of liberty, equality, democracy, and self-governance, while encouraging civic engagement and community participation to help shape the next 250 years of our nation.

Due to forecasted rain, tomorrow’s groundbreaking at Prejean Road has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. Thanks for your understanding!

LCG invites you to join us for the official groundbreaking of the Prejean Road Roadway & Drainage Improvements Project. This

$3 million infrastructure investment will raise and pave Prejean Road from just east of Gourmet Road to Sunflower Estates Lane while adding storm drains beneath the roadway. These improvements are designed to enhance driving conditions and help reduce flooding in the surrounding community.
