Pedestrian & Bicycle Planning
Contact: (337) 291-8024
Planning staff is working hard to make our transportation system safe, mobile, and accessible for all ages and abilities. The foundation is the pedestrian and bicycle components of the Lafayette Comprehensive Plan. Our goal is to increase the connectivity and safety of our bicycle and pedestrian transportation network with on-street routes and multi-use trails, so residents will choose their bicycles instead of their cars to commute to work or just for recreation.

We use a Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) approach to building bicycle facilities along our roadways. Different facility types are based on many factors including equity, land use, speed limit, traffic volumes, parking, public input, and roadway classification.
