How Do I?

To apply for the Citizen's Academy summer 2026 session, please complete the application below and submit it along with a photocopy of your ID or driver's license. You can submit your materials in one of two ways:

• Email: Send the completed application and ID copy to piolpd@LafayetteLA.gov.
• In-person: Bring the printed application and ID copy to either 900 E University Ave or 1820 Moss St.

Applying to become a Police Explorer is easy! Here's how you can get started:

Parents or guardians of children ages 14 to 19 can apply by calling or emailing:

Restraining orders can be applied for through the Lafayette Parish Courthouse located at 800 S. Buchanan St. Lafayette, LA 70501.
