LAFAYETTE PUBLIC LIBRARY NORTHEAST BRANCH DESIGN PRESENTATION
Lafayette, LA – The conceptual design plans for Lafayette Public Library’s Northeast Regional Library branch were formally presented at tonight’s Lafayette Public Library System Board meeting.
“The new Northside Library is about so much more than a building. It's about making a statement that every child, every family, and every neighborhood deserves access to spaces that inspire learning, creativity, and opportunity,” said Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “The design is beautiful, inviting, and uplifting, and reflects the character and pride of the Northside while creating a welcoming destination for generations to come.”
The facility, will feature a 20,533-square-foot layout situated on 6.5 acres. The site plans incorporate 113 standard parking spaces alongside 6 dedicated ADA spaces. Designed to accommodate a collection size ranging from 44,000 to 53,000 items, the new branch will also house 37 public computer stations.
The modern library hub will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor public amenities, including:
- Children’s Storytime and Activity Space
- Teen Spaces
- STE(A)M Learning Area
- High-Tech Maker Space
- Walking Paths
- Study Window Seats
- Study Rooms
- Quiet Reading Areas
- Interactive Displays
- Music Garden
