Brian Smith, Director of the Drainage Department

Brian was appointed as the Director of Drainage in 2020, overseeing all drainage operations and maintenance.  He began his career with Lafayette Consolidated Government in 1995 and served in several capacities within the Engineering Section of Public Works Operations.  In 2013, Smith was promoted to Streets Superintendent.  As Streets Superintendent, he managed the Streets Division which included roads, bridges, sidewalks and curbs, and grounds maintenance.  In 2017, he was promoted to Drainage Superintendent and oversaw the maintenance of Lafayette’s drainage systems.

Brian is a native and resident of Acadiana. He attended T.H. Harris Technical School and graduated in Civil Engineering Technology.  He is also licensed as a Surveyor Intern with the Arkansas Board for Professional Surveyors.
