Reuniting Pets with Their People: New Microchip Scanning Stations in Lafayette Parish

Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center (LASCC), in partnership with Friends of the Lafayette Animal Shelter (FLASh), has launched free 24/7 microchip scanning stations to help lost pets find their way home faster—and keep them out of shelters.
Scan Station Locations
You can now scan found pets for a microchip at the following locations:
- Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center: 410 N. Dugas Rd., Lafayette, LA 70507
- Lafayette Police Department: 900 E. University Ave., Lafayette, LA 70503
- Youngsville Police Department: 311 Lafayette St., Youngsville, LA 70592
- Spay Nation for Dogs & Cats: 1640 North Bertrand Dr., Lafayette, LA 70506
- Duson Police Department: 300 2nd St., Duson, LA 70529
- Paws and Paw Paws: 930 Robley Dr., Lafayette, LA 70503
- Zen Dog: 1002 Albertson Pkwy., Broussard, LA 70518
- Grace Presbyterian: 518 Roselawn Blvd., Lafayette, LA 70503
Each station includes easy-to-follow instructions for scanning a pet’s microchip. These self-service stations are open 24/7, offering an after-hours option when vet clinics are closed. That means you can help a pet get home—day or night.
Why Microchipping Matters
In 2024, LASCC took in nearly 4,000 stray animals. Only 228 were reclaimed by owners. That number can—and should—be higher.
