Jeffrey Stewart, Director of the Lafayette Utilities System

Lafayette Utilities System Director, Jeffrey Stewart, was born and raised in Louisiana. Mr. Stewart earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2001 and immediately began his career at LUS as an Electrical Engineer.

Following several years in that position, Jeff was appointed Chief Electrical Engineer and later Engineering & Power Supply Manager. In his current duties as Director, Jeff oversees customer and support services, electric operations, water operations, wastewater operations, environmental compliance, engineering, power production and power supply, as well as managing a $300 million annual budget, while supervising more than 470 full-time employees. 

He serves on the Louisiana Energy and Power Authority (LEPA) Board of Directors on behalf of the City of Lafayette, serves on the Cajundome Commission appointed by the Lafayette Mayor-President, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana.
