Right of Way Division

Division Overview

This section is responsible for acquiring necessary rights of way/servitudes for drainage, roads, channel/coulee and sidewalk projects.

• Work on Capital Improvements and Operations projects:
  • Identify all legal property owners along any given project
  • Provide research showing how each property ownership was obtained
  • Acquire appraisals for individual properties within projects
  • Contact all legal property owners along the project to inquire potential verbal agreements prior to acquisitions (as needed)
• Relocation Assistance including:
  • Finding replacement housing
  • Moving, utility and financial assistance while abiding by State laws
• Attend public information meetings regarding projects, prepare aerial maps, provide estimated property values
• The Right of Way Section also provides assistance to the following agencies:
  • Federal and State Transportation Departments
  • Department of Natural Resources
  • Corps of Engineers
  • National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)
  • US Coast Guard
  • Federal and State Wildlife and Fisheries
  • Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • All LCG Departments except LUS
