Parish District 2 - Donald Richard

Donald Richard is newly-elected for his first term representing Lafayette Parish Council District 2. He was born and raised in Scott, Louisiana, where he has been a lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish. Councilman Richard is married to Karla Richard and, together, they share one (1) daughter, Logan Richard. He is currently employed by Stiel Insurance of Acadiana, having devoted himself to the commercial insurance sales industry for the past 26 years. Councilman Richard completed undergraduate studies at University of Southwestern Louisiana and holds multiple certifications, to include the Associate of Risk Management and Certified Insurance Consultant credentials. He spends a large part of his free time competing in team roping events and he also is an avid bow hunter, notably hunting deer. He serves as secretary for the Mid-Winter Fair Association, which is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the 4-H program, and he serves on the board for Acadiana District Livestock Show. Having worked for Lafayette Parish Government and having served on the Board of Commissioners for Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North, Councilman Richard has always aspired to remain involved in public life, so his pursuit of service on the Lafayette Parish Council is something he views as good, worthwhile, and impactful for fueling his continued desire to serve.
