Martin Poirrier is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in public infrastructure and engineering leadership. A graduate of Acadiana High School, Poirrier earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Poirrier brings extensive service with Lafayette Consolidated Government, including roles within both the Department of Public Works and the Lafayette Utilities System (LUS). Most recently, he served as Chief Civil Engineer with LUS, where he oversaw water and wastewater capital improvement programs and supervised multidisciplinary engineering teams. His career with LCG has included management of roadway, bridge, drainage, and parks projects, as well as leadership roles overseeing large operational teams and complex public works initiatives.
In his role as Director of Capital Improvements, Poirrier leads the centralized management of LCG’s capital projects, focusing on coordination, accountability, and efficient delivery of infrastructure investments that serve residents across Lafayette Parish.
